Editor Overview

The HeyDonna editor is a powerful real-time editing interface designed specifically for freelance legal transcribers. It combines a professional text editor with synchronized audio playback and AI-powered tools.

Editing on a computer

The HeyDonna editor works on a desktop or laptop. On a touch-primary phone or tablet with a window narrower than 1024 pixels, the editor does not open or start an editing session. You will see “The HeyDonna editor works on a computer.” and “Open this file on a desktop or laptop to keep editing.”

Choose Copy link to this file to copy the current file URL, then open it on your computer. If copying fails, an inline error appears and you can try again.

A narrow desktop window with a fine pointer (such as a mouse) remains editable. It shows “Widen your window for the best editing experience.” at the top; use Dismiss window notice to dismiss it for that visit. At widths of 1024 pixels or more, the editor opens normally without this notice.

View-only access

View-only access lets you read a transcript without changing the saved file. Scribie workspace membership alone does not allow editing; editing depends on your current ownership or file-specific edit access.

If your edit access changes while the file is open, a refused save makes the editor read-only. Your unpublished changes remain on that device; HeyDonna does not replace them with the server version or repeatedly retry the refused save. Keep that browser's local data until you have recovered or saved those changes. Editing can resume after HeyDonna verifies that your edit access has been restored.

File - Save, export, create new projects
Edit - Undo, redo, find & replace
Audio - Playback controls
View - Toggle track changes, line numbers
Tools - AI proofreading, formatting, settings
Insert - Add timestamps, speaker labels
Help - Keyboard shortcuts, documentation

Transcript Editor

The main editing area where you work with your transcript:

Auto-save every few seconds. A clean loaded server version shows Synced once verified; pending or unsaved edits do not.
