Track Changes

Track Changes lets you see all edits made to your transcript, making it easy to review modifications before finalizing your document.

How It Works

When Track Changes is enabled, all edits are visually marked:

  • Insertions - New text appears with a green background and underline
  • Deletions - Removed text shows with red strikethrough

Each change is tracked at the word level, giving you precise control over what to keep or reject.

Enabling Track Changes

Toggle Track Changes from the View menu:

  1. Go to View → Track Changes
  2. A checkmark indicates Track Changes is active
  3. All subsequent edits will be tracked

Best Practices

When to Use Track Changes

Track Changes is especially useful when:

  • Multiple people review the same transcript
  • You want a record of edits for quality assurance
  • Working with AI tools that make automated changes
  • Preparing documents for legal review

Workflow Tips

  1. Enable before AI proofreading - See exactly what the AI changed
  2. Review section by section - Don't accept all at once without reviewing
  3. Keep a clean copy - Save a version before accepting all changes
  4. Disable when done - Turn off Track Changes for final edits

Working with AI Tools

When you use AI Proofread or Format tools:

  1. Track Changes automatically marks AI-made edits
  2. Review each AI suggestion before accepting
  3. Reject any changes that don't fit your needs
  4. Accept validated changes to finalize them

Exporting with Track Changes

Export Options

When exporting a document with pending changes:

  • Accept all first - Clean document with changes applied
  • Reject all first - Original document restored
  • Export as-is - Warning if changes are pending

Recommended Workflow

  1. Review all tracked changes
  2. Accept or reject each change
  3. Ensure no pending changes remain
  4. Export your final document

Troubleshooting

Changes Not Showing

  1. Verify Track Changes is enabled in View menu
  2. Check that the view option is selected
  3. Refresh the page if needed

Performance with Many Changes

For documents with hundreds of changes:

  • The editor may slow down slightly
  • Consider accepting/rejecting in batches
  • Use "Accept All" for verified AI changes

Undo After Accepting

If you accidentally accept a change:

  1. Press Cmd/Ctrl+Z to undo
  2. The change returns to tracked state
  3. You can then reject it if needed
